Tony Adams Race
To put this into context, the other annual boat race "Oxford vs Cambridge" on the Thames is just 4.2 miles 😀.
Our route takes us past Alresford, Wivenhoe, Rowhedge and into Colchester Hythe.
With an 11am start, this years conditions were interesting to say the least. A strong westerly wind across a rising tide made for some larger waves.
Rowers battled hard against a strong head wind and choppy water for one hour thirty minute to reach the finish line.
Once all competitors had finished the exhausted rowers made a steady row back up stream to Rowhedge where tea, coffee and cake was consumed to replace energy. Some even grabbed a beer from the local pub!
We achieved a brilliant 2nd & 7th place for our two crews.
As usual another great day and one to talk about for a while.
